About Southport, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in Marion County, Indiana, Southport is a city with population of more than 1,700 residents. Settled by a Presbyterian family in 1832, who also constructed a church along a stream known as Little Buck Creek, Southport was laid out and platted in 1852, making it one of the first incorporated towns in the Marion County region.

Officially recognized as a city during the mid-1970’s, Little Buck Creek was of significant importance to the city as a grist mill located here served as a gather place for the residents of the area. Additionally, commercial developments also started to appear along Southport Road, which is parallel to Little Buck Creek.

In the 1960s, the Southport Park District was established and this provided recreational activities and facilities for the residents of Southport. The playground equipment used to be old, however, with the renovation plans completed back in 2014, children now are able to play on ground space and equipment that meets current safety codes.

A number of airports are located nearby, including Indianapolis International KIND, Post-Air, Greenwood Municipal KHFI, Indianapolis Downtown, Mount Comfort and Columbus Municipal for national and international travelling. Ground transportation, on the other hand, is omnipresent with taxes and buses at your disposal.

As far as education is concerned, Perry Township Schools, Southport Elementary School, Southport Middle School and Southport High School serve the students of the city. However, there are various school districts nearby as well as a few outstanding private schools, with commute times that are reasonable.

There are many events also celebrated throughout the year - some of the most prominent ones include the Spring Festival, 4th of July Parade, National Night Out, Art Day, Kid’s Day Out, Christmas, Ice Cream Social, Easter Egg Hunt as well as Flag Day. With low crime rates, a growing economy, affordable real estate and lower cost of living compared to the national average, it doesn’t come as a surprise that more people are choosing to live in Southport.

Southport receives 43 inches of rainfall and 21 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high in summers around  84 degrees, having a reliable air conditioning system is  essential to make it through the blistering heat. In addition, since the mercury drops as low as 20 in the winters, it’s highly recommended that you install a heat pump to keep you and your family comfortable during those wintery days and nights.
