About Acton, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in southeast Marion County, Indiana, Acton is a small town with an estimated population of more than 3,200 residents. Named after an early settler called General Acton, the community has been included into Indianapolis boundaries and it consists of upper middle class and moderately educated people.

Formerly named Farmersville, the name of the town was later changed to Acton as there was already another town called Farmersville in Posey County. The community was once busy with a post office, blacksmith shop, pool hall, drug store, train depot, bank, telephone exchange, Ford and tractor dealership, school, two grocery stores, two grain elevators, three gas stations and three churches.

In 1986, the town of Acton was hit by a tornado that caused some damage. However, the residents pulled together and with sheer determination rebuilt their homes and businesses in the aftermath of the tornado. In fact, most of the homes in the town are more than 100 years old and have survived multiple tornadoes over the years.

The community has always been considered a rural area, but the construction of a new housing subdivision in 2004 brought more people from the surrounding areas to the town in search of affordable housing. As of today, the town is growing at a steady rate with fine residential and commercial establishments and amenities located close by within walking distance.

There are multiple cafés, bars and restaurants as well as shopping and grocery facilities for residents to choose from.  South Creek Elementary serves students from kindergarten all the way up to the fifth grade, while the Frank Central High School - one of the top rated high schools in the region - in the city of Indianapolis provides higher education opportunities for students. A number of other school districts around the town serve the students of Acton.

As far as the climate of the town is concerned, Acton receives 40 inches of rainfall and 24 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high in the summer season around 84 degrees, it’s important to install an air conditioning system to help your home be a haven of coolness during the blistering summers. In addition, as the mercury drops as low as 18 degrees, you should consider investing in a heat pump to keep you and your family warm and comfortable during those frigid days and nights.
